Critical Decisions in Trauma Course

This course focuses on the time period lasting for about one hour following a severe traumatic injury, during which prompt medical treatment will most likely increase the patient’s chance of survival. This educational activity will provide participants with an overview of common and complex scenarios in a Trauma Unit, focusing on the quick decision-making process based on the most up-to-date International Trauma Surgery Guidelines. We will focus on the care of the critical patient after a motor vehicle accident and falls since they are the most common mechanisms of injury in Qatar and neighboring countries. The course is designed to meet the needs of the healthcare professionals to better understand and improve the management of these patients in critical situations.

Using Body Interact, an innovative, hands-on simulation tool, this course will provide participants with a complete education experience, translating the classroom learning into Emergency Medicine practice.

During this course, participants will develop skills that will help them identify and understand critical situations in trauma that needed to be prioritized and treated.

 After the completion of this educational course participants will be able to measure their performance and feel more confident when taking care of patients in the acute phase of trauma. 

This course has been designed to meet the educational needs of residents, fellows and practicing physicians in the fields of General Surgery, Trauma Surgery and Emergency Medicine that have experience in managing trauma patients. Attendees for this course are limited to only 20 and have already been predetermined; hence, registration is already closed.
